Canadian Furniture Show 2016 Recap

The Polanco Home Furniture & Interior Décor team began their trip to the 2016 Canadian Furniture Show bright and early on Sunday May 29 arriving in Toronto midday. Polanco associates visited the International Centre beginning with hall one, where Huppe Furniture was displaying their newest designs. Huppe showed a beautiful leather upholstered bed, very slick and clean in design, displayed with modern grey stain wood pieces such as side tables, dressers and a floor mirror. The wood furniture pieces were accented with coloured glass on the top surfaces. The glass adds an additional level of fashion as well as function to protect the wood.

Next was Dutailier, who had many new styles and colours to choose from. Polanco experts ordered new reclining chair styles in leather from the AvantGlide line. Moving on to hall five, Polanco was excited to see even more Canadian suppliers. Camlen Furniture introduced newer looks moving towards more contemporary and upcountry styles with additions of cleaner lines. Polanco experts ordered a collection of Camlen’s newer pieces and are anxiously awaiting their arrival. Handstone showcased a tufted, upholstered bed with cherry wood trim. After Handstone, Polanco moved on to seeing Surya rugs and Artage metal and glass end tables.

Polanco then visited the International Centre permanent showrooms which house many suppliers. The first showroom visited was Marcantonio. Marcantonio was showing everything from new fabrics to leathers and of course new styles. Down to the finest details, Marcantonio is always innovating. Even the small touches such as nailheads and unique stitching were updated for 2016. Floral print silkscreen fabrics were a creative introduction to this year’s designs. Marcantonio developed many designs and styles of ottomans which can add more softness and texture to a space as well as replacing the function of a coffee table. Three new upholstered bed styles clean in design were also shown with the attention to detail in tufts, unique stitching and nailheads.

Overall, Polanco was very impressed with the new styles among their favourite Canadian furniture manufacturers. They anticipate that both current and future clients will be delighted by the new additions to the showroom floor.
