Furniture & Decor for Home, The Masters Ottawa

Project Description

Polanco Home Furniture & Interior Decor Solutions collaborated with Studio S Interiors, an Ottawa Luxury Renovation/Design company, on a large scale interior staging project. After Studio S had completed the re-design, Polanco was responsible for the decoration of the home. Located on the Hunt Club golf course, the home was completely gutted, restructured and redesigned into a beautiful modern luxury home with a classic exterior. After an initial consultation upon the re-design completion, Mandy Renfrew, a Polanco design expert decided to take a classic-contemporary approach to a more contemporary home. She felt it was important to create a flexible decor foundation that would allow the buyer freedom in their style choice.

The classic-contemporary style choice was first implemented in the master bedroom. Mandy added a creamy white linen fabric on the Oxford classic style headboard from Canadian supplier Marcantonio Designs. Mandy also incorporated the Dolan chair from Marcantonio with the Daedal custom fabric from Robert Allen in the colour Sand Dollar. The Damask pattern on the chairs was selected to complement the style of the upholstered bed. The chairs also feature a solid maple frame finished in a dark stain colour to match the floor and bring the woods together. The bedside tables are solid maple made in Canada from Handstone in a high gloss painted finish, creating a more contemporary style. Large, classic, glass base lamps from Robert Abbey Lighting were included to complement the presence of the headboard on the bed. As a finishing detail, Mandy selected 100% Egyptian cotton linens made in Canada from Charister Home Fashion in crisp white to keep the palette cleaner and more neutral for the staging process.

In the basement recreation room, Mandy selected a chocolate brown Canadian made leather sectional and Milan ottoman in the same shade to flow with the colour of the custom cabinetry. Celadon Art was included and colours were drawn from the artwork into toss cushions with Robert Allen fabric in warmer colours to add a cozier feel to the basement room.

In the family room, the Inspiration sectional from Marcantonio Designs in white leather was included with open back design lending itself directly to working well in an open concept space. The sectional helped divide the space, creating balance within the room and allowing traffic to flow around the furniture. Torre & Tagus accessories were added to the built-ins on the fireplace wall to allow the potential buyer to visualize personalizing the room. In the kitchen, Mandy added Canadian made, leather, counter height Parson style stools in a contemporary colour. Classic styling with tufting and silver nail heads accented around the stools again blended the two styles effectively. The accents allowed the stools to stand out from all vantage points in the open concept space.

The dining room was a longer space that accommodated a grand dining table seating 8-12 people. The table used was the Florence model in a solid maple from Canadian supplier Handstone. The table blended styles as a result of the classic base and a more contemporary top. The Florence dining table directly complements the design of the

Contempo buffet, also from Handstone. A modern touch was added to the shelves on the left of the table with steel spheres shaped into a pyramid for further design appeal. For the dining chairs, a neutral fabric was used on the classic style Rosen chair from Marcantonio Designs. To accentuate the style of the chairs, Robert Abbey lamps were implemented on top of the buffet. The buffet adds a visual separation in the large open space between the dining room and the living room. The living space was visually organized to define a seating area that would accommodate 5-7 people comfortably using exclusively Marcantonio furnishings. Mandy included the Cosmo sofa and loveseat in a linen fabric and accented it with two Luna chairs in white leather. The round Chantelle ottoman brought the space together and features crystals for buttons where the tufting is placed for visual flare. The look was continued by introducing silver lamps from Robert Abbey and a decorative, round silver mirror from Renwil above the sofa. Neutral toss cushions designed by Mandy and made by the Polanco seamstress add a finishing touch to the living room space.
