Modern Home, Old Ottawa South

This client’s entire home was thoughtfully furnished by Polanco, incorporating only a select few of their existing furniture pieces and artwork. The project involved transitioning from a larger traditional home in Rockcliffe Park to a newly built modern residence in Old Ottawa South.

After meeting at their new home, design consultant, Mandy Renfrew, prepared a design proposal to present to the clients before commencing the project to get a sense of their vision and personal style. Polanco prepared sketches, floor plans and furnishing options.

Throughout the home Polanco incorporated custom designed furniture by Marc Antonio Designs and Handstone Furniture – all Canadian made. As the clients are frequent entertainers, it was necessary to create both a functional and open-concept layout.

Lighting was also an important feature in their home. Polanco included pieces by Robert Abbey Lighting, such as the large Bling chandelier above the dining room table. Mandy custom designed window coverings, including motorized blinds and neutral draperies in order to bring warmth to spaces where the windows reached up to 11 feet in height.

Since clients were resizing, it was imperative that Polanco maximize storage. Therefore we installed custom built-ins throughout the lower level to create unique and effective storage solutions as well as a designed custom home office in the spare bedroom.
