Redesigning a Glebe Condo – Bright, Airy & Stylishly Modern

Nestled in the heart of the Glebe neighbourhood in Ottawa, this condo’s living and dining area needed a fresh perspective. Our goal was clear: to create a light, inviting, and functional space that reflected the client’s needs of condo living combined with the charm of the neighbourhood.

A Fresh Start: Re-imagining the Space

We began this transformation by removing the heavy elements that overwhelmed the space. To instantly brighten the room, we removed the dark drapery and painted the walls in a light neutral white colour. We chose Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore to amplify the natural light streaming in through the surrounding windows. 

Updating the fireplace was another crucial step. We opted for a sleek and modern tile design that harmonized with the new color palette, turning the fireplace into a refined yet elegant focal point. These subtle design changes completely transformed the room, giving it a fresh, airy feel and providing us with a blank canvas for our furniture choices. 

Thoughtful Furnishings for Condo Living

When it comes to furnishing a condo, it’s all about finding the perfect balance between functionality and style. Every piece for this living space was curated with that in mind. We built a custom Canadian made sectional that offers generous seating while its clean lines and plush feather filled cushions made it the ideal centerpiece for the space. The light tone of the soft neutral fabric enhances the room’s brightness, making it equally suited for relaxing or entertaining.

To make the sectional even more inviting, we dressed it with our Canadian made textured toss cushions in complementary neutral tones, allowing these small details to add interest and coziness to the room.

We paired the sectional with a square leather ottoman that serves as both a coffee table and a footrest. Adding a tray to the ottoman combines functionality and style seamlessly, providing a stable surface to hold drinks, books, or snacks, making it practical for everyday use. At the same time, serving as a platform to display decorative items like candles, vases, or small sculptures. Adding a personal touch and elevating the room’s aesthetic.

It was important for our client to have an accent chair that offered comfort, adjustability, and an aesthetically pleasing design. We selected the Timeout chair and ottoman from Polanco Home’s furniture selection, for its perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. With its ability to recline and swivel, this chair adapts effortlessly to any space. The walnut shell adds a touch of warmth and natural beauty, while the greyish taupe leather upholstery maintains a sleek, modern elegance. Placed beneath the living room furniture, we selected an area carpet sourced from one of our Canadian lines to unify the space bringing together the furniture and decor to create a cohesive look. The combination of brown and grey tones add depth and visual interest, while the soft material enhances the room’s comfort, making the space feel warm and inviting. The area carpet serves as both a grounding piece and a finishing touch, tying everything together beautifully.

A sleek table lamp, floor lamp and new sconces provide soft ambient lighting, while silver end tables and decor add a polished touch. These metallic elements catch the light beautifully, enhancing the room’s brightness and creating visual interest without adding clutter.
