Canadian Furniture Show 2015 Recap

The Polanco Home Furniture & Interior Décor team began their trip from Ottawa to the 2015 Canadian Furniture Show bright and early. Arriving in Toronto around noon, Polanco entered the show full of excitement and eager to see the new products and styles.

The Polanco team’s first stop was Handstone Furniture. Handstone Furniture is a family owned, independently operated furniture business located in Walenstein, Ontario. Polanco met with the owner Tim, who showed them some of the newer styles being produced by the company this year. As expected, Polanco was very impressed with their work and several orders were immediately placed. Polanco therefore will soon be showing a new dining set and buffet called the Verona. These pieces will be shown in a vintage silver stain which gives a clean, contemporary look. The Verona buffet will also feature glass doors which allow you to both store and display your items. Polanco was delighted to see that Handstone has also introduced many new contemporary styles of dining chairs, an area of furniture they have not explored as much in the past. Another new addition from Handstone that Polanco will soon feature in their showroom is the Yorkshire bedroom set. The Yorkshire line began as a dining room collection but due to popular demand and its visual appeal, Handstone has expanded the line to include bedroom furniture.

The next stop for the Polanco team was Dutailier, a furniture manufacturer located in St-Pie, Quebec. Dutailier specializes in glider chairs as well as baby furniture focusing on the new mother. This manufacturer recently released three new unique motorized rocker/swivel recliners. Polanco loved what they saw and ordered a selection of styles, including one in a striking orange leather.

Polanco then met with the owner and designer from Huppé Furniture, a manufacturer that they have only recently started working with. Huppé Furniture is based out of Victoriaville, Quebec and has been in business since 1967. Huppé designs have a very modern look that Polanco is excited to introduce to their showroom floor. From this manufacturer, the team ordered a wood dining set called the Outline. The chairs that are paired with this set feature an upholstered seat and back. In addition to the Outline, the Polanco team ordered the Plank upholstered bed with floating nightstands and matching dressers.

On day two of the show, the Polanco experts spent the morning off-site in Toronto and the surrounding area. The first stop was the Marcantonio Designs factory just outside of Toronto in Concord, Ontario. Here, they loaded up the truck with many furniture orders ready for delivery to their clients back home in Ottawa. Next, the team visited the showroom of Future Fine Furniture located in Toronto. The Polanco team was very impressed with their selection of Canadian made products. New fabrics, clean styles, and classic pieces were the highlight of the space. After viewing the amazing pieces that Future had to offer, the Polanco experts traveled back to the show to place orders with Marcantonio Designs before the closing of day 2.

Overall, Polanco was very impressed with the new styles among their favourite Canadian furniture manufacturers. They anticipate that both current and future clients will be delighted by the new additions to the showroom floor.
