Rideau Forest Contemporary Home

Polanco Home Furniture & Interior Decor Solutions is excited to showcase this contemporary home located in the prestigious Rideau Forest Development neighbourhood. Built by Brenmar Construction with interior design by Julinda Balca, this 7,126 square foot home is the perfect backdrop for Mandy Renfrew to provide beautiful Canadian made furniture and decor. Given the expansive space, Mandy wanted to complement the grand interior with pieces that would accentuate its architecture.

Our client’s living room is absolutely fabulous. The considerable size of the open space, coupled with gorgeous high ceilings meant Mandy’s selections needed to be equally as grand. A neutral colour palette for the furniture was utilized in the open concept living, kitchen, and eating area to bring the space together and create cohesion within the home. In the living room, Mandy selected a custom Logan sectional in creamy-white fabric. The placement of the sectional allows our clients to have open and free conversations with guests in the space, watch television, or lounge comfortably by the fire. A curved chaise creates a welcoming feel, while a large white textured fabric ottoman grounds the space. The ottoman provides the perfect multi-purpose centrepiece, completed by a tray for accessories, and still allowing space for our clients to place books and relax after a long day. Mandy also created a secondary seating area, consisting of two Aaron chairs in a mid-century modern style. The additional seating allows for a cozy nook to enjoy a morning coffee, or the flexibility to bring the chairs in and create additional overflow seating in a U-shape with the sectional.

In the kitchen, Mandy chose to accent with white leather counter stools, complementing the white marble finishes present in the design. We wanted the design of the kitchen and kitchen eating area to remain cohesive, so Mandy implemented the same colour palette throughout. Our client’s eating area located off the kitchen is wrapped in stunning floor to ceiling windows. The classic style of the Georgetown dining set is the perfect choice for the bright and spacious eating area.

When entering our client’s spectacular dining room, you can’t help but imagine dinners with family and guests filled with conversation and laughter under one of the most incredible fixtures. It is so important to select furniture in this room to complement the gorgeous lighting. Mandy chose a modern design when selecting the Rosen chairs along with the Contempo dining table and sideboard. The Contempo pieces appear to float in the space, with the stunning steel pedestal base catching your eye immediately as you enter the room, complementing the contemporary interior design.

At the opposite wing of the home, you will find a spacious and efficient home office with storage solutions and display cases. Our client wanted the option to transform their home office into a boardroom when required. Mandy selected furnishings to help create an effective workspace comfortable for one person, or many colleagues to work productively together. A live edge Pemberton table suited the space perfectly, complemented with a navy blue Wilson chair.

As you leave the office, you can’t help but notice the open and inviting grand staircase that ascends to the second floor. Walking up the stairs, natural light pours in through the beautiful floor to ceiling windows and filters through the glass panels along the staircase. Once upstairs, a short walk down the hallway brings you to the master bedroom which is as expansive as it is beautiful. A stone two-sided fireplace, unique walnut millwork, and gorgeous black pendant lighting are just a few of the magnificent design features that truly set this room apart. We wanted to work with neutral palettes that focused on texture and tone rather than colour and vibrance. Mandy was able to select pieces that once again complimented the interior design of the space by choosing an Alexa king bed, upholstered in greyish-white leather. Balancing the hue of the leather with the organic tone of the wood creates warmth that can stand the test of time. Mandy chose to accent the bed with two white Soho nightstands featuring black glass knobs to complement the pendant lighting. A mid-century modern Nash sofa in white chenille fabric, placed on a fluffy shag carpet, creates a stunning and fresh design in the master bedroom seating area. Additionally, a round ottoman accented with greenery and accessories help complete the space. The ensuite bathroom is the perfect place to relax with an oversized shower, soaker tub, two sinks, and separate vanity. There are many options for decorating in a bathroom, for example, Mandy complemented the cabinetry in a second ensuite at the opposite wing of the home by accenting in pink hues, adding a velvet fabric chair, vases, and hand towels.

Our client’s home is designed to accommodate family and friends. Several large bedrooms with floor to ceiling windows become apparent immediately as you walk upstairs through the sun-filled hallway. Towards the end of the hall, a generously sized family space is perfect for entertaining. Mandy included a custom Dream sectional in grey fabric, complemented by a Dream ottoman and a white leather recliner in a contemporary style. The U-shaped design allows another room for our clients to entertain family and guests in front of the television while enjoying the minibar feature of this room. Mandy also included a rectangular white painted coffee table accented with clear vases and still allowed lots of space for food and drinks.
